Viewing Album:  Wisconsin & Southern Train Wreck! The Remains of WAMX 3894

Album Info:On June 30, 2025, a Wisconsin & Southern freight train consisting of three engines and 55 cars derailed where the tracks cross Independence Avenue near Hartford, WI. Three crewmen were hurt, though none of them died, thank goodness! Some tank cars were on the train, but the only leak came from one of the diesels (probably WAMX 3894). One source I saw said that a fallen tree was the cause of the accident-please correct me if you've heard anything different. I didn't want to get in cleanup/rescue crews' way, so I didn't initially head up to get photos. However, I was going through Hartford today, and I stumbled across the wreck by accident--Highway 60 was closed east of town, and I had to take a different route! The engines are still near the Independence Avenue crossing, now parked on a siding. Several of the freight cars, now wheel-less, are parked there as well. In the four years I've lived in Wisconsin, this is the only time I've heard of Wisconsin & Southern being involved in a wreck. They usually seem to do a great job as far as safety goes--which means this will be your rare opportunity to see a wrecked version of one of their engines. Enjoy the album!
