Album Info:One of the most historic railroad towns in the United States is Martinsburg, West Virginia. The B&O Railroad reached there in 1842, and their shops which they built continued to service engines until 1988. It had two roundhouses, one of which has burned, but the other of which is the oldest still standing in the United States (it was built in 1872 to replace one the Confederates had burned). An intriguing historic city, it's definitely worth a visit--and you can get there on Amtrak's Capitol Limited! Time your visit right, and you might even see a CSX freight come through the station! Enjoy!

Description:  From platform, looking south. That little building, once known as NA Tower, was an interlocking office that was used by the railroads until 2003. Called a tower by the B&O, even though tower is obviously not the right word!
