Album Info:10/25/25--Even though it's a fairly short drive for me, I hadn't been to the East Troy Electric Railroad yet this year (busy summer), so I decided to rectify that. Though it was a rainy Saturday, it was actually the perfect day to come and visit! Sean, the railroad photographer (and one of the newest engineers), gave me an awesome tour of the shed west of the depot where they keep their trolleys that are running, enabling me to get great photos! Every time I've been here, it's always been a fun and entertaining ride. If you like trains or trolleys, this is a great place to visit! Located just off of Exit 38 on Interstate 43--be sure to check it out!

Description:  It was a busy enough day that they were using trains of two cars each! South Shore 13 was one of the coaches waiting to take people, though I rode in 9, which was coupled to it.

South Shore 9

Description:  Normally, the trains go all the way to Mukwonago, but in the fall, they only go to The Elegant Farmer. Still a 5-mile ride! Interestingly, though South Shore 9 was a little more luxurious than the L cars, the L cars apparently operate better (I guess its amazing that these 100-year old cars are still operational)!

Twin Cities Streetcar 1583
Title:  Twin Cities Streetcar 1583
Description:  Mechanical problems actually helped this car survive! Built in 1913, it served the streets of Minnesota up until the 1950s. In 1954, though, it was removed from service due to mechanical problems and sold, becoming a shed (perhaps even a chicken coop) in Adams County, Wisconsin. Four years after it was sold, the Twin Cities discontinued streetcar service, scrapping most of them, so this is a rare survivor. One other funny note-the museum originally thought this car was from Duluth (I imagine it was really rusty when they got it), so they originally restored it to look like it ran on the Duluth system. After someone from the Minnesota Tranportation Museum realized the mistake, East Troy repainted the coach. It may not originally have had controls on both ends, but this has been helpful to running it on the East Troy Electric Railroad, since the railroad is unable to turn its trains.

Title:  CTA 4439
Description:  Two of the museums CTA cars were running on this day; this, the 3rd, was in the shed. Built in 1924, it was beautifully restored in 2022. Interestingly, the other cars look to be in good shape but have not been restored--I guess the museum takes very good care of them, as they dont look like they need restoration!

North Shore 761
Title:  North Shore 761
Description:  You see plenty of South Shore coaches (as that railway is still in operation), but the North Shore Railway (ran from Chicago to Milwaukee) has been gone since 1963. Car #761 not only remains in existence, but it still runs! The museum acquired the car in 2001 and was restoring it but stopped in 2014 whe they found significant structural damage on the east end. Fortunately, an ironworker joined the team in 2019, and the museum had the car running again in 18 months!

Title:  Sheboygan Light, Power, and Railway Co. 26
Description:  Built in 1908, this car is made of wood but still runs! Sheboygan had trolleys until 1938, but when they stopped using them, they sold several for use as summer cottages. One of the families who owned one donated it to the museum in 1988, and after years of restoration, it was running again by 2005!
